State Rep. Mark Huizenga today welcomed Waiz John, who was naturalized as a U.S. citizen on Monday, to the state Capitol.
“It is a privilege to welcome Waiz to the state Capitol — and to his new citizenship,” said Huizenga, of Walker. “The United States is a beacon of freedom throughout the world, and we invite people to come and share in the liberties we enjoy. We truly live in a great country.”
John, a Grandville resident, emigrated from Pakistan. He was joined at the Capitol by his wife, son and parents.
In honor of his naturalization, Huizenga presented John with United States and Michigan flags, which both flew over the state Capitol on Monday.
