State Rep. Julie Calley of Portland today invited residents to attend her May office hours in Middleville and Hastings.
“Listening to people in our community and understanding your priorities helps me better represent our area when I got to Lansing,” Calley said. “I look forward to hearing your input and assisting with any questions you might have.”
The informal meetings will take place Monday, May 24, at the following times and locations:
- From 10 to 11 a.m. at the Middleville Village Hall, 100 E. Main St. in Middleville.
- From 1 to 2 p.m. at the Hastings City Hall, 201 E. State St. in Hastings.
No appointment is necessary to attend.
Calley is also planning a virtual option for community members who are unable to attend the in-person events. Zoom appointments are available between 6 and 7:30 p.m. May 24. Please email JulieCalley@house.mi.gov or call (517) 373-0842 to schedule a virtual meeting.
“I’m proud of the many, many Michiganders who stood up and took action to make certain that such a power grab never happens again,” said Calley, of Portland. “The people of our state are much better off when our government leaders work collaboratively to solve our state’s problems.”
“For far too long, kids in our local school districts have gotten less funding than those in more affluent areas of the state,” Calley said. “I’ve been fighting to right this wrong since I started serving. Whether they live in a small town or a bigger city, all Michigan students deserve equal funding. This budget finally accomplishes that goal.”
