A resolution from State Rep. Brian BeGole recognizing the positive impact of President Donald J. Trump’s actions and policies on the state of Michigan was adopted on Wednesday by the Michigan House.
“We appreciate how much of a focus Michigan has been for this administration,” said BeGole, of Antrim Township, when addressing the resolution on the House floor. “Just this week, the President announced a new fighter mission at Selfridge Air National Guard Base – a move that will support thousands of jobs and secure the base’s role in our national defense.
“The President’s administration has made bold moves to protect American manufacturing, cut wasteful spending, protect our border, stop the flow of fentanyl into our communities, build Line 5 and stop Asian carp. These are important issues to Michigan workers and families, as well as our state’s future, and we are thankful that he has made these things a priority.”
President Trump marked his first 100 days in office by traveling to Warren to announce a new F-15EX Eagle II fighter mission with 21 aircraft at the Selfridge Base. He has publicly promised to prevent Asian carp from entering the Great Lakes and support the Brandon Road Interbasin Project, which is critical to protecting Michigan’s waters and economy.
An executive order from President Trump declared a National Energy Emergency, allowing for emergency permitting of the proposed Enbridge Line 5 tunnel project that will secure the state’s energy infrastructure and protect thousands of Michigan jobs. Another order to increase American mineral production has expedited permitting for a proposed mine in Osceola County, which will reduce reliance on foreign potash.
BeGole is in his second term representing the 71st House District, which includes portions of Shiawassee, Saginaw and Genesee County.
