Rep. VanSingel to lead House Appropriations Transportation Subcommittee

State Rep. Scott VanSingel today was appointed by Speaker Jason Wentworth to chair the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation.  

VanSingel, who previously chaired the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education in the 2019-20 term, said he is honored by the opportunity to serve in his new role.  

“Transportation is a key facet of Michigan’s economy and an essential industry, as we were reminded in 2020,” said VanSingel, of Grant. “I look forward to carefully evaluating and prioritizing funding for this important part of our state budget and ensuring rural districts like ours receive equitable funding.”

VanSingel also was appointed to serve as vice chair of the Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy Appropriations Subcommittee and as a member of the Military and Veterans Affairs and State Police Subcommittee, the School Aid and Michigan Department of Education Subcommittee and the Joint Capital Outlay Subcommittee.  

VanSingel is serving in his third term representing the people of Michigan’s 100th House District, which includes Lake, Oceana and Newaygo counties.
