Rep. Huizenga backs plan to increase support for Michigan veterans
RELEASE|June 15, 2021

State Rep. Mark Huizenga and the Michigan House of Representatives today approved a plan to raise new charitable support for Michigan veterans and members of the military.

“Those who serve in our nation’s military deserve support from the state of Michigan, and our state budget allocates resources every year to support our servicemen and servicewomen,” said Huizenga, of Walker. “This plan will provide even greater support for veterans and military members by accepting tax-deductible contributions from private citizens into a new fund.”

House Bill 4380 would create the Michigan Military and Veteran Services Support Fund to support Michigan members of the military, veterans, their families, and their communities. A board to oversee the fund would consist of seven members, including appointees representing veterans and service members.

HB 4380 passed with bipartisan support and now advances to the Senate for consideration.
